The Metropolitan Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to an incident in which a seven-year-old girl was grabbed by an unknown man on Mary Datchelor Close in Camberwell, SE5.
At around 17:00hrs on Thursday, 22 October, the girl was walking near her mother on the pavement in Mary Datchelor Close when the man grabbed the girl, put her over his shoulder and carried her for around 100 metres before dropping her.
The girl was not physically injured in the incident and the suspect later made off on foot.
The suspect is described as a black man of stocky build. He was wearing a yellow sleeveless tabard over a black long-sleeved top with blue jeans. His approximate age is not known.
An urgent investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances. This includes enquiries to identify relevant CCTV footage.
