Police make two arrests after an eight-year-old child found after suspected abduction

Police have thanked the public after they arrested two people, a man and a woman after the suspected abduction of an eight-year-old child who has now been found by authorities.

Avon and Somerset Police launched an urgent appeal this morning to find her, they said: “While there may be a reasonable explanation police are treating this investigation as an abduction.”

The Bedminster girl, named only as Tiolah, goes by the name Tillie and has been found “safe and well” today following a 15-hour police search.

Tiolah had been missing since yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, December 16) when a family friend and an unknown man visited her home.

The pair took her out just after 3pm to visit McDonald’s in Sheene Road, Bedminster, and they were expected to return home with her within an hour.

However, police said this morning: “Tiolah’s mother reported her missing at about 7pm.”

Authorities shared a photograph of the trio in East Street, appearing to be holding McDonald’s food and drink, and also shared images of Tillie and the two people she was believed to be with.

These photos have since been removed due to the active police investigation.

The police appeal went live shortly after 6am and an update was shared just before 10.30am.

A Police statement read: “Police have located eight-year-old Tiolah safe and well in Bristol this morning following an appeal to trace her.

“A man and a woman have been arrested.

“Officers would like to thank everyone who contacted us or shared the appeal.”
