Two teenage boys have been charged after stealing a car in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon (20 February) with the owner’s two children still inside.

West Midlands Police were alerted to the incident just after 5pm when the children’s dad reported his car had been stolen with his children, aged two and four, sat inside.

Thankfully both children were found safe and well and reunited with their parents at the roadside a short time later.

Two boys, both aged 15 and from Birmingham, have been remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on the morning of the 22nd (Monday).

The pair, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will both stand accused of two counts of kidnap and aggravated theft of a motor vehicle.

One of the teens has also been charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
